Calling all horror fans! Please join Brooke MacKenzie, local author, in a reading of her book, GHOST GAMES. How scary can a game really be? As it turns out, games can be terrifying. In this spine-tingling, short fiction collection, see what happens when the female protagonists throw caution to the wind and perform a ritual--or "game"--to invoke the supernatural. This event will include a reading, Q and A session with the author, and a book signing. There will also be merchandise for sale for those who may be interested in playing some of the games in the book. Should you decide to try them, remember: you play at your peril.
By day, Brooke MacKenzie is a reading specialist and writes educational articles and personal essays. By night, she is a scary movie fanatic and writes horror fiction by candlelight. She received a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her writing has appeared in several places, including Who Knocks? Magazine and Monstrous Tales Vol. 2 by Gravestone Press. Her story, The Elevator Game, was selected for the 2019 Bram Stoker Award Preliminary Ballot and also produced as a podcast episode by Night's End Podcast. GHOST GAMES is her first book, and it has already received critical acclaim, with Kirkus Reviews calling it, "an indelible batch of nightmarish tales."
